Product Description

A type I membrane protein of 442 amino acids that is involved in the maintenance and maturation of the blood-brain barrier. MXRA8 contains two igg-like v-type (immunoglobulin-like) domains, exists in two alternatively spliced isostructural forms, and is encoded by a gene that maps to human chromosome 1p36.33. Human chromosome 1 spans 0.26 billion base pairs and contains more than 3000 genes, accounting for nearly 8% of the human genome. Chromosome 1 contains a number of genes associated with diseases, including familial adenomatous polyposis, Stickler syndrome, Parkinson's disease, Gaucher disease, schizophrenia, and Usher syndrome. Chromosome 1 aberrations are present in a variety of cancers, including head and neck cancer, malignant melanoma, and multiple myeloma
